Mamata Banerjee’s Alipurduar rally postponed due to weather disruption

Unfavourable weather conditions have forced the postponement of the North Bengal campaign programme of Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee. The leader was scheduled to begin her election campaign in the region from Alipurduar on March 24. However, the district administration and party leadership have announced that the programme for that day has been cancelled for now due to weather concerns.

Apart from the Alipurduar meeting, Banerjee was also expected to address public rallies in Mainaguri and Matigara on the same day. The sudden change in weather conditions led authorities to postpone the planned events as a precautionary measure. The decision was taken after reviewing the situation in the region.

According to officials, the information about the postponement was confirmed by Alipurduar Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Sau and Trinamool district chairman Gangaprasad Sharma. They stated that the programme could not go ahead as scheduled due to the prevailing weather conditions. Sources indicated that the campaign in North Bengal may now begin the following day on March 25, although no official confirmation has yet been issued.
